9/25 - PCM RESCUE WELCOMES SHORTY....
Shorty came to us from GCAC in very bad shape. They were kind enough to let us do stray hold and the 10 days were up on Friday! The first thing I did when he came in was take him to the vet along with Pooch. He was absolutely emaciated as he was covered in fleas when he came into GCAC and missing a lot of his fur. He was 2.2lbs when he came in and needed TLC badly. They warned me he was probably anemic and he was!! Bad Bad!!! The good news was he was already building red blood cells and had gained almost 1lb and was now 3.06lbs. We did bloodwork and Interceptor to cover tape worm because of the fleas and proceeded to give him puppy food mixed with RC puppy mousse to get much needed nutrients into his tiny body. He was with Jamie who is a local foster until the stray hold was up. Yesterday he was transferred to fosters Bob and Kim to continue his recovery. Right now it is groceries, groceries, groceries! It will be a month or so before he is well enough to be neutered. My vet said she would be surprised if he was even 1 year old yet as he has retained baby teeth but sometimes very hard to tell when they are in this condition. He is a very sweet little guy and just wants to be near you. I think he looks a little like his new foster dad! LOL!
